Driving licence issued for the first time for category T
With a category T driving licence, colloquially known as a "large tractor driving licence", you can drive the following vehicles with trailers:
- tractors intended and used for agricultural or forestry purposes with a maximum design speed of 60 km/h (from 16 to 18 years: 40 km/h)
- self-propelled machinery and feed mixers intended and used for these purposes with a maximum design speed of 40 km/h
Driving licence category T is issued for an unlimited period.
Driving licence category T is a national category. It is only valid to a limited extent in other countries.

Prerequisite
- You must have your normal place of residence in the Federal Republic of Germany.
- You must have reached the minimum age of 16 years.
Procedure
You must submit an application for a category T driving licence to the driving licence authority responsible for you.
Deadlines
The application for the initial issue of a driving licence expires if the theory test has not been passed within twelve months of receipt of the test order or the practical test has not been passed within twelve months of passing the theory test.

- current biometric photo (size 45x35 mm, portrait format, frontal view)
- Eye test certificate (not older than 2 years)
- Proof of participation in a first aid training course

Costs
- The fee is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt)
- If the driving licence is sent directly to your home address, an additional postage fee will be charged.
Processing time
The processing time depends on the workload of the respective driving licence authority.
Miscellaneous
There is no probationary period for the category T driving licence.
