Housing promotion - apply for funding for the purchase of co-operative shares
As a private individual, you can receive a subsidy for the purchase of cooperative shares for owner-occupied housing under the current state housing subsidy programme.
The subsidy is provided in the form of loans and grants. The interest rates on the loans are subsidised for a limited period.
As a co-operative member, you must make use of the subsidised co-operative housing right for a certain period of time.
Responsible authority
- in rural districts: the housing promotion office in the district administration office
- in urban districts: the housing promotion office in the mayor's office of the place of construction

Prerequisite
The main requirements for the subsidy are
- The total annual income must not exceed the relevant income limit for your household.
- Your household must not already have adequate housing of its own.
- The future living space must be located in the defined subsidised area.
- The size of the future home must be appropriate.
Procedure
You must apply for the subsidy at the responsible office (housing subsidy office). You can obtain the application forms from the Housing Promotion Agency or via the portal of the Landeskreditbank Baden-Württemberg - Förderbank (L-Bank). Complete and eligible applications will be forwarded to the L-Bank for further processing.
You can also obtain further information and advice on your specific project from the relevant office. L-Bank will help you on 0800/150-3030 (free of charge from the German landline network or with a German mobile phone network and provider; Mon. - Fri. 8.00 am to 4.30 pm), especially with financing questions.
Please note: As a rule, you may not start the project until you have received written confirmation of funding from L-Bank. A premature start to the project will result in the funding being rejected unless the responsible office agrees.
Deadlines
There is generally no application deadline.

You must enclose some documents with the application. Information on the required documents can be found, for example, in the application form on the L-Bank homepage or can be obtained from the responsible office.
Costs
As a rule, there are no costs for counselling and applications.
Miscellaneous
You have no legal entitlement to funding. A legal entitlement can only be established by a funding commitment from the authorising body (L-Bank).
